Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah

Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah, National Chairman of Executive Council of Institute of Directors, was a former Chief Justice of India. He was Chairman of the Human Rights Commission. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Science and in Law from the University of Mysore. He commenced general practice of law in the year 1951, and was appointed Permanent Judge of the High Court of Karnataka w.e.f. 6.11.1975 and Judge of the Supreme Court of India w.e.f. 5.10.1987. Subsequently, he was appointed Chief Justice of India w.e.f. 12.2.1993 and retired on 24.10.1994. He was 25th Chief Justice of India. Even after his retirement; he has continued to work on anti-corruption and human rights issues, including support for the launch of the Initiatives of Change Centre for Governance.
Nasser Munjee

Mr. Munjee began his career in 1977 as one of the first employees of HDFC, India’s first housing finance company, where for over two decades, he rose to be an Executive Director on its board with wide responsibilities. Then in 1997, upon the request of the Finance Minister of India to set up an infrastructure finance company, Mr. Munjee was instrumental in establishing Infrastructure Development Finance Company Limited (“IDFCâ€). Mr. Munjee is presently a director on the boards of other public companies in India, viz. Cummins India Limited, The Indian Hotels Company Limited and Chairman of Tata Motor Finance Limited, Tata Motor Finance Solutions Limited and TMF Holdings Limited. He is also the Chairman of other Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) institutions in India. He has served as the President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry and on several government task forces on housing and urban development. Mr. Munjee has a Masters degree from the London School of Economics, UK and was earlier educated at the Leys School in Cambridge.

He is also former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the nodal agency of Government of India responsible for implementing Aadhaar. He also worked as the chairman of Goods and Services Tax Network from September 2017 to March 2021. Pandey has served as Principal Secretary (Information Technology), the MD of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation, secretary to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Deputy Commissioner (Sales Tax) and as the district magistrate and collector of a district in the Maharashtra government and as a deputy secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment in the Indian Government.

Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal is a second-generation member of the family that founded the Hero Group, India’s premier automotive manufacturing group that has evolved from being the world’s largest bicycle-maker to the largest two-wheeler maker. He is now the Chairman of Hero Enterprise, with interests in insurance distribution, steel-making, real estate, corporate training and an active Investment Office. He is also on the board of trustees of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and has co-founded BML Munjal University (BMU). As Union Secretary, Corporate Affairs he played a key role in the implementation of several major economic reforms & laws, including the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, which has deeply impacted the borrowing culture in the country and helped banks effectively tackle the problem of non-performing assets. Muktesh K. Pardeshi is currently Special Secretary in India’s G20 Secretariat since July 2022. He is a career diplomat who joined Indian Foreign Service in 1991. Earlier, during July 2019-July 2022, he served as the High Commissioner of India to New Zealand. He was Ambassador of India to Mexico from April 2016 to June 2019. During his tenure, India-Mexico ´Privileged Partnership’ saw huge advancement for which he was named Ambassador of the Year 2018 by Mexican diplomatic journal El Mundo Internacional. Hon’ble Justice Uday U. Lalit

Justice Uday.U. Lalit enrolled as an advocate in June 1983. He specialised in criminal law and practiced at the Bombay HC from 1983 to 1985. Following his stint at the Bombay HC, he worked in the chambers of then Attorney General of India, Soli Sorabjee, from 1986 to 1992. Justice Lalit was designated as Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court in April, 2004. He aided the Court as amicus curiae in many important matters pertaining to forests, vehicular pollution and pollution of the Yamuna river. Justice Lalit was elevated as a Judge of the Supreme Court directly from the Bar on August 13th, 2014. He was the sixth Judge elevated directly to the SC without having served as a Judge in a lower court or High Court. As an SC Judge, he was appointed as the Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) on May 14th, 2021. Justice Lalit took over as the 49th Chief Justice of India on August 27th, 2022, becoming the only second CJI to be elevated to directly from the bar.

Hon’ble R. Venkatramani is a lawyer with an experience of 42 years of practice in the Supreme Court. He enrolled in July 1977 in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and joined the chambers of PP Rao, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court in 1979. Subsequently, he set up an independent practice in the Supreme Court in 1982. He was designated as Senior Advocate by the apex court in 1997. He was then appointed as a Member of the Law Commission in 2010 and again for a further term in 2013. He has practiced in various branches of law prominently constitutional law, law of indirect taxes, human rights law, civil and criminal law, consumer law, as well as law relating to services. He has also represented Central Government, several State Governments, Universities, Public Sector Undertakings in their major litigations in the top court and High Courts and continues to represent the Supreme Court in matters concerning its employees.

Dr. Anup Wadhawan

Dr. Anup Wadhawan IAS (Retd.) is an economic and public policy professional with 40 years work experience in various sectors, including the civil service, regulation, academics, private sector, and international development. He spent 36 years in the Indian Administrative Service and served as India’s Commerce Secretary for 3 years. During this tenure, he managed India's Foreign Trade Policy, negotiated bilateral, regional and multilateral trade deals, and implemented measures to promote exports and create an investor-friendly environment. Previously, Dr. Wadhawan was responsible for policymaking and oversight in banking, insurance, the national pension system, and capital markets. He played a significant role in passing of the Insurance Laws Amendment Act 2015, which reformed the Indian insurance sector, raised the foreign investment cap, and allowed foreign reinsurers and Lloyds to operate in India. He also oversaw the management of the National Pension System corpus as PFRDA chair. During his time at the Prime Minister's office, he provided advice on macroeconomic and sectoral policy reforms in areas like regulation, PPPs, fiscal management, and the power sector.

Arjun Ram Meghwal is a well-known social worker belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party and former party Chief Whip of 16th Lok Sabha. Currently, he is the Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture in the Government of India. C.K. Mishra has been a career Civil Servant belonging to the Indian Administrative Service. He joined the Service (IAS) in 1983 and superannuated as Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. He has been spearheading the Indian efforts at addressing climate change issues and at policy interventions in matter relating to pollution and air quality. He led India’s negotiations at important forums such as United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (Conference of the Parties (COP)) to assess progress in dealing with climate change; Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and various other multilateral events. Prior to this, he was Secretary in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and also held the additional charge of Ministry of AYUSH for some time. As Additional Secretary & Mission Director, National Health Mission, he led one of the largest public health programmes globally. In about 37 years of public service, he has served as an administrator, policy-maker and public health strategist holding a wide range of assignments in the fields of health, education, industry and power.

Hon’ble Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi is the Chairman of the Law Commission of India. He was the former Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court. A leading legal luminary who has had an illustrious journey in the field of law, Justice Awasthi graduated in law from Lucknow University in the year 1986. Since beginning, his expertise included civil, service and education matters at the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court. Hon’ble Justice Awasthi was also nominated as the Senior Judge at High Court in Lucknow in 2021 and thereafter was elevated as Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court in 2021.
During his tenure as a Judge for more than 13 years, Hon’ble Justice Awasthi decided around 44,000 cases out of which more than 600 judgements were approved for reporting. Most of the cases decided by Hon’ble Justice Awasthi had nationwide impact, as well as international relevance too. He has made a remarkable contribution in the field of law which has had far reaching impact. The Government of India has appointed Justice Awasthi as the Chairperson of the 22nd Law Commission of India.
